Ms S. Dubash
| Holds a Honours degree in Chemistry (London), MBA (USA), Phd. She is currently the chairperson of Industry and commerce of Sri Lanka and representative on the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce main Board. She is also member of the institute of Directors. A Director of Abans Ltd. and other Group Companies. Within the group, Mrs. Dubash is chiefly involved in administering the supply chain functions of import purchasing, wharf clearance, warehousing, inventory control, distribution and information systems. Retail Accounts and Hire Purchase Departments also come under her purview. Flexible, hard - working employees have long been Mrs. Dubash's main aides and as a result, she oversees the Training Department to ensure the continuous training and development of quality Abans employees. Her major projects currently include s ourcing a 3PL partner, introducing an ERP system for the Abans (Pvt) Limited channel and spearheading other e-commerce initiatives, most recent of which is buyabans.com, the online retail arm of Abans Ltd. She is supported by an excellent, hard-working senior administrative network. |
Mr L.R. Watawala
| Appointed to the board in August 2007. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, a fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and a fellow of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of U.K. He has held the position of Chairman and Managing Director of Board of Investment of Sri Lanka twice and also served as the Chairman of People’s Bank, People’s Merchant Bank, Pan Asia Bank Ltd and other State Corporations. He has served as an Advisor of the Ministry of Finance. He was a Past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, South Asian Ferderation of Accountants, Founder President of AAT Sri Lankan and Organization of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka. Mr J.W.H. Richters
| Johannes W. H. Richters has garnered international management experience in markets as varied as South America, the Caribbean and Asia. He counts extensive experience in medium term planning, budgeting and reporting processes and is particularly adept at setting up and effecting the turnaround of greenfield projects. He is responsible for restructuring companies and negotiating joint venture agreements. He holds a Masters degree in Law from the Free University of Amsterdam and underwent further corporate management training at ING Insurance, Netherlands. He has functioned as Chairman and CEO of ING Mexico and CEO and Managing Director of ING Argentina in the past. Mr S. Furkhan
| Mr. Stefan Furkhan joined the hospitality industry in 1984 having had his initial training in Germany and Australia and possesses over 25 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry in Australia and Sri Lanka. He is a Graduate Diploma Holder and Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK (CIM), the premier professional marketing body in the world, and a Member of the Institute of Hospitality, UK. Mr. Furkhan was a former Vice President of the Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL), and the Chairman of its Marketing Sub-Committee. He also served on the PATA Sri Lanka Chapter Board. He holds a MBA in Financial Management, is an Associate of the Institute of Cost and Executive Accountants and was awarded Fellowship of the Institute of Bankers (IBSL) in 2006. He has varied experience in the fields of Banking, Audit, Relationship Management, Corporate Finance, Corporate Banking, Investment Banking and Treasury Management. Mr. Jayawardena was appointed the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Banks Association (SLBA) in 2003/04 and served as President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka in 2006/2007. He served as a Director of Lanka Clear, National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) and The Institute of Bankers (IBSL). Mr. Jayawardena was appointed to the Financial Sector Reforms Committee (FSRC) and was a member of the Finance Sector and Capital markets cluster of the National Council of Economic Development (NCED). He was a key member of the inaugural sovereign rating team and sovereign debt for Sri Lanka appointed by the Governor of the Central Bank. He was presented with the prestigious Combined Support Group Award by the US Navy for services rendered after the Tsunami in 2005. The Government of Sri Lanka appointed him to the Board of the Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission in 2010.
