Tunisia: bank refinancing volume hits new record (BCT)

Tunisian banks still lack liquidity. This is reflected in the overall volume of their refinancing with the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) which has just hit a new record high.

According to the daily monetary and financial indicators of the BCT, the overall volume of refinancing of banks reached 10.585 billion dinars at November 10.

Due to the restrictive effect of the external sector deficit in particular, the acceleration of imports has increased the banks’ reliance on the Central Bank for the purchase of foreign exchange to cover the external liabilities of economic agents.
