du to close 2G networks as per TDRA's decision

Dubai – Mubasher: Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du) will be closing its 2G networks as per the decision of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).

The TDRA previously announced that the UAE will gradually shut down the 2G network (GSM) in phases, which are forecast to be completed by the end of 2022, according to a recent press release.

Customers can change their 2G devices to 3G, 4G, or 5G mobile devices, to be able to benefit from high-definition voice quality, high-speed data connection, and higher internet surfing, and downloading speeds.

In addition, mobile users with a 3G device on the 2G network are able to change their settings to 3G not to face any service disruption.
