Watania reports 40% higher profits in 2020; lower accumulated losses

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The net profits of National Takaful Company (Watania) jumped by 40.3% to AED 18.429 million in 2020, compared to AED 13.132 million in 2019.

The company's net takaful income rose to AED 91.146 million last year from AED 69.4 million in 2019, according to the company's financial results for 2020.

Meanwhile, the insurer's underwriting profit reached AED 57.763 million in 2020, up 36.9% from AED 42.193 million during the earlier year.

The basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) settled at AED 0.12 in 2020, against AED 0.088 in 2019.

At the same time, the company's accumulated losses decreased to AED 46.4 million from AED 71.2 million.

It is noteworthy to mention that during the first nine months of 2020, Watania hiked by 77.5% to AED 17.77 million from AED 10.01 million in the year-ago period.
