Vodafone appoints Hany Mahmoud as chairman

Cairo - Mubasher: Vodafone Egypt announced on Tuesday that former minister of communications and information technology Hany Mahmoud was appointed as chairman of the company.

Mahmoud succeeded Ian Gray who had been chairman for 17 years, the company said in a statement.

The newly appointed chairman has been part of Vodafone for eleven years, and had served as minister of communications and information technology in 2012 and minister of administrative development in 2013.

The company’s capital amounts to EGP 1.2 billion, distributed over 240 million shares at a par value of EGP 5 per share.

Telecom Egypt owns about 44.95% of Vodafone Egypt.
