Cairo - Mubasher: Vodafone Egypt said that all decisions taken by Vodafone Qatar does not represent nor express the views of Vodafone Global in general or Vodafone Egypt in specific, as it only reflects those who a majority stake in the Qatari company.
The telecom company added in a statement that a ruling majority stake of 70% in Vodafone Qatar is owned by Qatari investors, including businessmen and members of the royal family.
The company also noted that changing the company’s network name, which appears on the screens of mobile phones, is a local decision that is exclusive to Qatar and that Vodafone Egypt has nothing to do with it, pointing to the fact that a similar move was carried out by Ooredoo in Qatar.
Vodafone Egypt is 55% owned by Vodafone Global Enterprise, while the remaining 45% stake is owned by Telecom Egypt.
