Unemployment rate fell 9.9% in the last quarter, planning minister

Minister of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform, Hala Al-Saeed said that the unemployment rate fell to 9.9% in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2017/2018, in line with the economic growth rate rise to 5.4% in the same quarter.

Al-Saeed said that the number of employees increased by 2% with an estimated 474 thousand workers. On the gender level, the unemployment rate decreased from 8.22% to 6.7%, whereas unemployment rate among females decreased from 24.7% to 21.2%, she added.

  On the sectoral level, Al-Saeed said that agriculture, education, wholesale and retail trade witnessed a remarkable growth in the number of workers, 16% for agriculture, 18% for education and 8% for wholesale and retail trade..
