US Apple mulls investments in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: IPhone maker Apple Inc. is planning to directly invest in Egypt, the company’s CEO said.

The American technology company is currently considering plans and proposals for investing in the North African state, Tim Cook added in a press release.

Cook noted that almost 38,000 people inside Egypt are working with Apple in developing IOS apps.

This came on the sidelines of a meeting between Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Cook at Davos 2019.

Apple’s CEO has welcomed collaboration with Egypt in the field of education as it is compatible with the company’s vision and objectives in developing education around the world.

For his part, Madbouli has invited Cook to visit Egypt soon to discuss the details of investment with the investment and telecommunication ministers.

In the same vein, the prime minister added that president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is keen to turn Egypt into a hub for electronic industries and technology in the region.
