UAE’s cabinet determines tax-exempted sovereign entities

Dubai – Mubasher: The UAE’s Federal Tax Authority (FTA) on Monday announced that the cabinet is responsible for determining the sovereign authorities whose fees are not subject to the value-added tax (VAT).

Services provided only by sovereign  entities, which were not covered by VAT, are considered a non-commercial activities, FTA stated.

FTA noted that it was setting periods for submitting tax returns, adding that it could be monthly or quarterly periods.

Tax returns would be submitted within 28 days after the end of the tax period, according to tax laws, FTA concluded.
