UAE’s building material exports hit AED 26bn in 2017

Dubai – Mubasher: The UAE’s exports of building materials reached AED 26 billion during the full-year 2017, while re-exports’ value amounted to AED 10 billion, according to Dubai Chamber’s recent study.

Meanwhile, the GCC country’s total imports of building materials recorded AED 68 billion during the same period, representing 66% of the nation’s overall trade in building materials.

The top import origins are China, India, Oman and Saudi Arabia, while the key export destinations of the UAE are Oman, India, KSA, and the US.   

The construction sector is one of the UAE’s major sectors as it accounted for 10% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2016.
