UAE denies Boeing 747 landing on Fujairah Corniche

Abu Dhabi — Mubasher: The UAE has denied social media reports that wingless Boeing 747 had touched down on the Fujairah Corniche.

The GCC nation’s authorities said that the out-of-service plane was there “for commercial purposes” ahead of being shipped to Bahrain, the state-run news agency WAM reported on Monday, citing the Fujairah government.

Bahrain will use the plane as the centrepiece of a recently announced 100,000 square metre underwater theme park.

On Sunday, Bahrain announced plans to establish the world’s largest underwater theme park and submerged Boeing 747 will be its centrepiece.

The park will feature a submerged replica of a traditional Bahraini pearl merchant’s house, artificial coral reefs and other sculptures that have been placed underwater as a safe haven for coral growth and as a habitat for marine animals, according to the state-run Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
