UAE builds $100m power station in Yemen

Dubai – Mubasher: The UAE has established a 120-megawatt power plant in Yemen’s Aden, with total costs of $100 million in a bid to meet the Yemeni energy demands.

Located in Al Haswa district, the new power station will be operational in October, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

"The power station will add a significant value to the energy infrastructure in Aden and neighbouring governorates," Yemeni Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Al Maisari said.

Saeed Al Kaabi, UAE Humanitarian Operations director for Yemen, stated that work will start on the building of two fuel storage tanks with a capacity of 5,000 cubic metres each, aimed at ensuring the diesel-cum-gas-run station will operate for 14 consecutive days, WAM reported.
