UAE banks' assets hit AED 3.21trn in Q2-21

UAE - Mubasher: The total assets of the banks operating in the UAE reached AED 3.21 trillion by the end of the second quarter (Q2) of 2021, up 0.6% year-on-year (YoY) from AED 3.19 trillion.

On a quarterly basis, the UAE banks' assets went up 1% in Q2-21, compared to AED 3.175 trillion, according to the latest data by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE).

The total deposits of resident and non-resident customers at the banks operating in the country increased by 2.3% to AED 1.908 trillion by the end of Q2-21 from AED 1.866 trillion in the year-ago period.

The banks' gross credit declined by 1.2% YoY to AED 1.769.4 trillion at the end of June 2021.

Meanwhile, the number of locally incorporated banks reached 21 at the end of Q2-21, with 522 branches and 40 electronic banking service units.

The total number of ATM of banks operating in the UAE registered 4,311 by the end of June 2021.
