UAE-Saudi Arabia weekly flights hike 13% during Ramadan

Mubasher: The number of flights between the UAE and Saudi Arabia surged by 13.30% during March amid increasing demand from those planning to perform Umrah rituals during the holy month of Ramadan.

The month of Ramadan witnessed nearly 383 weekly flights, compared to around 338 weekly flights in February, according to the General Civil Aviation Authority's (GCAA) statistics.

The authority revealed that flydubai increased its flights to the Kingdom by 40% from 93 weekly flights in February to 130 flights in March.

The airline covered destinations that include Abha, Jazan, Neom, AlUla, Qaisumah, Dammam, Qassim, Hail, Hofuf, Jeddah, Riyadh, Madinah, Taif, Yanbu, Najran, and Tabuk.

Furthermore, Etihad Airways expanded its flights to Saudi Arabia by more than 22.20% from 63 flights in February to 77 flights in March, covering destinations such as Dammam, Jeddah, and Riyadh.

The GCAA underlined that the Emirates flights to the Kingdom neared 67 weekly flights in March.

Meanwhile, flights operated by Air Arabia reached approximately 88 weekly flights covering Abha, Al Jowf, Dammam, Qassim, Hail, Jeddah, Madinah, Riyadh, Taif, Yanbu, and Tabuk.

Earlier this month, Etihad Airways increased its total number of Saudi gateways to four by adding the province of Al Qassim to its list of destinations.
