Tunisia: manufacturers mixed on future of their companies

According to the latest survey of the situation and prospects of Tunisian industrial companies, conducted by the INS (National Institute of Statistics), the opinions collected from Tunisian manufacturers show an improvement in the rate of growth of industrial production in the second quarter of the year 2018, with a balance of opinion of 33% against 27% during the first three months of the same year.

With respect to production for the third quarter of 2018, the results show a gradual decline in the growth rate of output in the industrial sector.

The balance of business owners’ opinion for the third quarter of 2018 is expected to reach 39% versus a forecast of 46% in the second quarter of the same year.

Concerning the local demand for Tunisian industrial products, 33% believed that demand continued to evolve positively during the second quarter of 2018 and 35% to estimate that this demand will stabilize during the 3rd quarter of 2018.

External demand for Tunisian industrial products has seen, according to 31% of respondents to the survey of the INS, a slight improvement in the second quarter of the current year and should post a slight decline in the next quarter, according to 36 % of respondents.
