Tunisia: investments in projects costing more than 5 MD edge up 25%

Investments related to projects costing more than 5 MD increased by 25.5% from 1,218.2 MD during the first seven months of 2017 to 1,529.1 MD during the same period of 2018.

These projects will enable the creation of 1,094 job positions, compared with 9,339 jobs in the first seven months of 2017, up 15.6%, according to the latest figures from the Industry and Innovation Promotion Agency (APII).

It should be noted that the projects of 5 MD and more, which represent only 4.7% of the number of projects reported and 28.6% of the number of jobs, account for 68.4% of all reported investments.

Of the 113 projects (I> 5 MD) reported during the first seven months of 2018, twenty-seven projects totaled an investment amount of 798.2 MD, or 52.2% of the total investment (I> 5 MD).

The 100% foreign and partnership industrial investments went from 480.6 MD during the first seven months of 2017 to 597.3 MD in 2018, registering an increase of 24.3%.

This increase is the result of higher investment by 100% foreign projects, which went from 173.8 MD during the first seven months of 2017 to 362.7 MD during the same period of 2018 (+ 108.7%).

On the other hand, reported investments under partnership projects decreased by 23.5%, from 306.8 MD during the first seven months of 2017 to 234.6 MD during the same period of 2018.
