Tunisia: inflation stabilizes at 7.5% in August

During the month of August, the inflation rate stabilized at 7.5% after a decline in July 2018. This rate has seen successive increases ranging from 6.9% in January 2018 to 7, 8% in June 2018, according to the latest statistics released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) Wednesday.

This stability is explained, on the one hand, by the deceleration of the rate of increase in food prices (7% versus 8.3%) and, on the other hand, by the acceleration seen in the rate of increase of housing services prices (6% against 4.9%) and transport prices (12.2% vs. 11%).
