Tadawul amends trading, membership rules to prevent internalization

Riyadh — Mubasher: The Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) has announced the approval of amended trading and membership rules, alongside an updated glossary of market terms, according to a statement on 27 October 2026.

The changes follow resolutions from the Capital Market Authority (CMA) and Tadawul’s board of directors.

The regulatory overhaul is specifically designed to implement a mechanism that prevents internal matching and ensures all orders are passed to the market on a gross basis.

The amendments follow CMA board resolution number 4-120-2026, dated 12 October 2026 and a subsequent board decision from the exchange on 29 September 2026.

By mandating the transfer of orders to the public market rather than allowing internal offsetting within brokerage firms, the new framework aims to bolster the transparency of order flows and overall market integrity.

According to the disclosure, the updated trading and membership rules, procedures, and the revised list of technical terms are scheduled to come into full effect on 13 December 2026.

This transition period allows market participants to align their internal systems with the new requirements for gross order submission and the prevention of internal matching practices.
