Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme approves Dhs298.7m in aid

Gulf Business: The Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, the initiative under the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), has approved Dhs298.7m in housing aid.

The aid was issued via 432 decisions on applications for house construction, completion, purchase, maintenance and upgrades, reported state news agency WAM.

Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, said: “As we welcome the holy month of Ramadan, the month of giving, the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme continues its endeavours to enhance family stability, ensure a decent living, and improve the quality of life of UAE citizens.

“The UAE’s wise leadership is deeply invested in the government housing sector as it helps build a cohesive society that can contribute to the progress of our nation.”

UAE citizens must Emiratis must submit requests to the MoEI to seek housing loans through the housing programme. programme prioritises orphans, widows, seniors and people of determination.

Engineer Mohamed Al Mansouri, director of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, said: “We have set ambitious plans to meet the growing housing needs of UAE citizens.

“We work closely with our partners from the federal and local government, the private sector, and the banking sector to achieve these plans.

“The programme follows in the steps of the founding father, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, by contributing to the social wellbeing and prosperity of the people.”

The step is part of the initiatives of the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and follows his order to complete all housing grant applications submitted to the programme, at a total cost of around Dhs2.3bn, WAM reported.

In other news, in December 2022, the UAE’s President ordered the disbursement of housing loans to 1,900 citizens in Abu Dhabi, worth a total of Dhs3bn.

In July last year, Sheikh Mohamed ordered the disbursement of Dhs1.5bn worth of housing benefits to Abu Dhabi citizens. The benefit will cover more than 1,100 beneficiaries in the emirate.

Additionally, the benefits package includes grants for houses, housing loans and the exemption of retirees and deceased families from paying the dues of housing loans.
