UAE - Mubasher: Schneider Electric has joined the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG), an initiative aiming to tackle sustainability issues for the government and private sectors.
Schneider Electric and ADSG will exchange expertise in the research and solutions on sustainability issues, including carbon emissions cut, energy efficiency, and renewable energy, according to a press release on Sunday.
Founded by the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) in 2008, ADSG is a public-private partnership initiative that connects the UAE-based organisations with global leaders to focus on global and local sustainability trends and cooperate in these issues.
The number of ADSG’s members has increased from 14 organisations in 2008 to more than 50 members as of today, showing the growing interest in sustainability-related topics in Abu Dhabi.
The Director of ADSG, Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi, Huda Al Houqani, said: "We are seeing growth in the adoption of best sustainability management and framework among our members and the wider community at large, and there’s much we can do to jointly promote and learn from each other, when it comes to reducing our ecological footprint and improving our resource efficiency."
Meanwhile, the Sustainability Leader and Human Resources VP for the Gulf at Schneider Electric, Natalja Kissina, commented: "Much of the awareness around these issues is due to groups like the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group, who have spoken publicly for over a decade on how Abu Dhabi’s businesses and organizations can become greener."
