Saudi Badir inks MoU with Propeller for startup alliance

Mubasher: Badir Program for Technology Incubators and Accelerators has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Propeller Inc., a Jordan-based startup accelerator focused on technology, product, and design to endorse startup collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

Upon this agreement, the Saudi and Jordanian entities will boost tech startups within the context of this collaboration through a legal setup for operation in the local market; this shall advise and coach startups in technology development and offer further support services to approved startups, according to a press release on Wednesday.

Badir Program is moving on the right track of creating 600 startups and 3,600 jobs by 2020; this is achieved by expanding its innovation and entrepreneurial hubs across Saudi Arabia.

CEO of Badir Nawaf Al Sahhaf said, “Our partnership with Propeller Inc. is a step in line with the strategy of the Badir Program that allows us to share our respective ecosystems through joint initiatives and activities to support the growth of startups, locally and regionally.”

Established in 2007, Badir Program represents King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and is considered one of the most important national and innovative environments in the field of supporting the establishment and growth of pilot and startup projects.

Badir’s main goal is helping the strategic policy applied in entrepreneurship and incubators in cooperation with government agencies, universities, as well as the private sector.

“The strategic partnership with Badir Program will give Propeller-incubated startups access to Saudi Arabia’s market, network and investors, propelling their reach and growth in the wider region. Moreover, the partnership will foster collective knowledge sharing between the two kingdoms, something we care deeply about at Propeller,” CEO of Propeller Tambi Jalouqa said.
