Saudi Aramco, UAE’s DEWA inks MoU for energy cooperation

Riyadh – Mubasher: State-run Saudi Aramco has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) to promote cooperation in power supply and demand management.

Under the MoU, both organisations will put a framework for potential collaborations and ventures in the area of energy applications, digital transformation, and operational excellence, the Saudi oil giant said in a statement.

“Through this partnership, we are pursuing an exchange of experiences and best practices that will help both parties to leverage technology solutions and accelerate business growth and drive innovation in the energy sector,” Saudi Aramco’s vice president for power systems, Abdulkarim Al-Ghamdi, commented.

Aramco, the world's largest oil producer, is working on the deployment of smart control systems, which are aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of power generation, transmission, distribution, and asset management.

“The collaboration with Saudi Aramco supports regional efforts to enhance the energy, water, smart transformation, smart grids, energy efficiency and sustainability sectors,” DEWA’s CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said.
