Saudi Arabia sees 3% lower salaries for Saudi nationals in Q3-20

Riyadh - Mubasher: Saudi Arabia recorded a 3% drop in the average monthly salaries paid to Saudi citizens to SAR 9,971 during the third quarter (Q3) of 2020, compared to SAR 10,273 in the same period of 2019.

The average monthly salaries for Saudi men declined by 1.02% in Q3-20, compared to SAR 10,487 in the corresponding period of 2019, according to data collected by Mubasher based on the latest official figures.

Meanwhile, Saudi women's average monthly payments retreated by 8% in the July-September period of 2020 from SAR 9,443 in the year-ago period.

As for the expatriates in Saudi Arabia, the average monthly salaries rose by 9% to SAR 4,213 in Q3-20 from SAR 3,866 in the same period of the earlier year.

In addition, Saudi citizens working in the public sector received an average monthly salary of SAR 11,230 in the July-September period of 2020, down 2.4% from SAR 11,505 in the same period of 2019.

The average monthly salaries for the expatriates working in Saudi Arabia's public sector jumped by 5.8% to around SAR 10,360 in Q3-20 from SAR 9,798 in the year-ago period.

In the private sector, the salaries of Saudis recorded SAR 7,455 in Q3-20, about 5% higher than SAR 7,104 in Q3-19.

The average salaries of expats working in the private sector increased by 14.2% to SAR 4,655 by the end of the third quarter of 2020 from SAR 4,077 in the same quarter of 2019.
