Saudi Arabia invests SAR 1.8bn in water, environment projects in 8M

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia has carried out 62 water and environment projects during the first eight months of the year ended last August at a combined value exceeded SAR 1.8 billion, the water distribution sector reported.

These projects are considered part of Transformation Programme 2020 (NTP) and Saudi Vision 2030, according to an official statement released on Monday.

The Saudi state-run utility has finished 42 water projects at as much as SAR 1.2 billion in investments, including establishing seven water tanks with 1.44 million cubic metres capacity, in addition to completing 39,168 water connections for households.

On a related note, the oil-rich nation implemented 20 projects in the sewage sector at total investments of SAR 605 million.

The sewage projects comprise environmental treatment plants with a daily capacity of 204,000 cubic metres, along with completing 31,605 sewage connections for households.
