SMC Healthcare announces SAR 3.8bn project award for SABIC Specialist Hospital

Riyadh – Mubasher: Specialized Medical Company (SMC Healthcare) has announced that its subsidiary, Al Mukhtas Al Sehhi Medical, has been awarded a major contract by the Saudi Ministry of Health for the management and operation of the SABIC Specialist Hospital for Behavioral Care.

The project is valued at an estimated SAR 3.8 billion over a 15-year period, according to a bourse filing.

It will cover the execution under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework, representing a significant expansion for the company in the specialized mental health and rehabilitation sector.

The project was award on 7 June 2026 and appoints Al Mukhtas Al Sehhi Medical to oversee the full operational mandate of the specialized facility.

SMC Healthcare holds a 51% controlling stake in the subsidiary. Under the terms of the agreement, the Ministry of Health serves as the procurer and the asset owner, while the subsidiary assumes responsibility for the comprehensive delivery of clinical and non-clinical services.

The SABIC Specialist Hospital for Behavioral Care is designed as a high-capacity institution dedicated to mental health and addiction recovery. The facility features 150 beds, 19 outpatient clinics, and six dedicated day-care rooms. The scope of medical services outlined in the disclosure includes specialized mental health care, addiction treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term aftercare services.

In addition to clinical care, the project scope encompasses the medical and non-medical operation and maintenance (O&M) of the hospital. This includes the management of all facilities and medical equipment, ensuring that the infrastructure supports the specialized needs of behavioral health patients.

Meanwhile, the 15-year duration of the contract highlights the long-term nature of the partnership between the Ministry of Health and the private sector in managing critical healthcare assets.

SMC Healthcare confirmed that there are no related parties involved in the transaction.

Furthermore, the company clarified that the current project award does not impose any immediate legal or financial obligations on the government entity. Such obligations will only be established once the final contract is signed by all participating parties. SMC Healthcare has committed to disclosing any further material developments in accordance with the regulatory requirements of the Saudi capital market.
