Restaurants and gyms in RAK to open June 3

Arabian Business: Gyms and restaurants in Ras Al Khaimah will be able to re-open on June 3, with strict precautions put in place to combat the spread of Covid-19, according to the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Economic Development (RAKDED).

In a circular, RAKDED said that restaurants and cafes have been instructed to ensure that staff are Covid-19 negative, as well as direct any with symptoms to local health facilities.

Outlets are only allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity, with a maximum of four people per table and distances of 2 metres between tables.

Protective masks and gloves are also required, although customers are only encouraged to do the same.

Anyone with temperatures in excess of 38 degrees is to be denied entry.

Shishas will remain prohibited in the first phase of the plan, which will be re-evaluated in the future.

Additionally, all food and beverages must be served in disposable, single-use Styrofoam containers, with single-use utensils and cups.

In a separate circular which outlined rules for gyms, it was noted that facilities can only operate at 50 percent capacity, with swimming pools, massage facilities and saunas periodically disinfected.

Gloves and mask are to be worn whenever possible.
