Ras Al Khaimah to Build Six New Power Stations by 2020

UAE emirate Ras Al Khaimah will build six new power stations in residential areas by 2020 at a cost of $133 million, Khaleej Times reported.

Director-General of the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa), Mohammed Saleh, said that more power is needed for the new residential areas in the emirate, as well as new and ongoing industrial projects and property investment projects.

“The six new power stations are in pursuance of the directives of the prudent leadership to boost the infrastructure capacity and attract more investments,” he continued.

Two 132/33/11 KVA power stations will be built – one in Al Raq area and one in Al Hamra area – each at a cost of $39 million and with expected capacites of 270 mV.

The four remaining stations will be 33/11 KVA power stations, worth $14 million each, and will be built on Al Marjan Island, and the Julphar, Al Filaya and Azan areas.

“Fewa will build more power stations and extend more electricity cables for providing electricity to the new and planned residential areas in the emirate,” Saleh continued.
