Ras Al Khaimah plans to attract 1.5m visitors by 2021

Dubai - Mubasher: The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has unveiled its new Destination Strategy 2019-2021, which aims to attract about 1.5 million visitors by 2021.

The new strategy will utitlise best international practices to boost tourism-driven economic growth in Ras Al Khaimah, the authority said in a statement on Tuesday.

“We must ensure our destination is attractive to travelers who wish to explore beyond the resorts and hotels. Our Tourism Strategy 2019-2021 is a comprehensive three-year programme that takes Ras Al Khaimah to the next level,” RAKTDA’s CEO Haitham Mattar commented.

The three-year programme’s main focus will be the diversification of Ras Al Khaimah’s tourism offering to attract a wider segment of visitors.

“The new Destination Strategy will also look at expanding tourism-driven employment. By 2021 we aim to employ 10,000 more people into the tourism and hospitality sector and nurturing investment from small and medium businesses, which benefit the community,” Mattar noted.
