Qomel Company announces resignation, appointment of Audit Committee member

Riyadh – Mubasher: Qomel Company has announced a restructuring of its Audit Committee following the resignation of one of its members and the subsequent appointment of a successor.

In a board of directors resolution passed on 15 June 2026, the company accepted the resignation of Bandar Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nimr and approved the appointment of Sultan Abdulaziz Faisal Al Mubarak to the committee, effective immediately.

The governance changes at Qomel Company were initiated by the resignation of Al Nimr, who formally submitted his request to step down on 14 June 2026.

According to the regulatory filing, Al Nimr cited personal circumstances as the primary reason for his departure. His tenure with the Audit Committee had originally commenced on 4 April 2023.

The Board of Directors expressed its formal gratitude and appreciation to Al Nimr for his contributions and the efforts exerted during his period of membership, extending their best wishes for his future endeavors. His resignation became effective on 15 June 2026, coinciding with the board’s meeting to address the vacancy.

To ensure the continuity of the committee’s oversight functions, the Board of Directors approved the appointment of Al Mubarak as a member of the Audit Committee.

Al Mubarak, who is an independent member of the current Board of Directors, assumed his new role on 15 June 2026 and is scheduled to serve the remainder of the current committee term, which is slated to conclude on 4 April 2027.

Al Mubarak brings an extensive professional and academic background to the Audit Committee. A Saudi national, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry from King Saud University (1989), a Master’s degree in Periodontics from the Royal University of Aarhus in Denmark (1994), and a PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo (2000).

Beyond his academic credentials, Al Mubarak has held several high-profile leadership and governance positions within the Saudi corporate and healthcare sectors. He has been a member of the Board of Directors at Qomel Company since 2023 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

Al Mubarak also has a previous experience that includes serving as the Chairman of the Board for Jazan Energy and Development Company (Jazadco) and as a board member and Chairman of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee for Bank Investment and Logistics Business Company. His executive experience is further highlighted by his former roles as the Executive Director of Innovation and Knowledge Translation at the National Institute for Health Research and the Executive Director of the Badir Program for Biotechnology Incubators. Additionally, he has served as a Senior Research Scientist and Consultant at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre.
