Qatari trade surplus rises 45% in June

Mubasher: Qatar’s trade balance surplus rose by 45% year-on-year during June, as shown by official data of Thursday.

The trade balance surplus totalled QAR 18 billion ($4.94 billion) last month, compared with QAR 12.46 billion ($3.42 billion) for the same month of last year, according to the foreign trade report issued by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.

Qatari exports grew by 46.3% to QAR 26.92 billion, compared with QAR 18.39 billion in June 2017.

On the other hand, imports increased by 50.1% to QAR 8.91 billion from QAR 5.94 billion.

Natural gas and hydrocarbons dominated almost third of the country’s exports, while cars representing 11.7% of the imports.

The United States was the biggest exporter with QAR 2.3 billion, while Japan led the list of importers with QAR 4.7 billion.
