Qatari bourse sheds 129 pts at close

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Wednesday’s session falling by 1.26% or 128.87 points to the level of 10,073.03 points.

The index was pressured by the fall in blue chips as QNB declined 0.56%, Ezdan shrank 2.46%, Industries Qatar dropped 1.55%.

Trading volume decreased to 5.59 million shares from 7.9 million shares exchanged on Tuesday, turnover also declined to QAR 219.18 million from QAR 319.13 million.

The bourse’s sectors fell collectively, topped by the real estate sector with a 2.44% decrease due to a fall of 3.09% in Barwa Real Estate; the stock made the highest trading volume activity of 897,560 shares.

The insurance sector fell 1.89% as Qatar General Insurance led decliners after retreating by 8.37%.

The industrial sector slid 1.78%, the transportation sector fell 1.7%, the telecom sector shrank 0.74% and the banking sector declined 0.34%.

QIB was the best performing stock after rising by 2.58%.
