Qatari banks assets down 0.8% in January

Mubasher: The assets of Qatari banks edged down by 0.8% month-on-month during January 2017 to reach QAR 1.26 trillion from QAR 1.27 trillion in December 2016, according to official data issued by the Qatar Central Bank.

Cash and precious metals totaled QAR 6.11 billion in January from QAR 6.08 billion in December; a monthly rise of 0.49%.

The securities portfolios reached QAR 154.7 billion in January, of which QAR 96.14 billion were debt bonds and QAR 51.3 billion were sukuk.

Credit facilities amounted to QAR 854.1 billion in January, while clients’ deposits stood at QAR 736.03 billion.
