Qatar’s Barzan Holdings orders EUR 3bn military helicopter

Doha – Mubasher: Barzan Holdings, Qatari Ministry of Defence affiliate, signed on Wednesday an EUR 3 billion deal with a consortium of three aircraft manufacturer companies: US’ Airbus, Italy’s Leonardo Company, and Netherlands’ Fokker, according to Reuters.

Under the agreement, the consortium will supply 28 medium sized twin-engine NH90 military helicopters for land and naval missions – along with support, maintenance, and training services – Reuters revealed.

“Today’s announcement represents an extraordinary result in one of the key sectors of the company,” Leonardo’s CEO Alessandro Profumo commented.

Another 12 jets could be ordered, familiar sources told the international news agency, adding that the first deliveries will take place before June 2022 and will continue until 2025.

“We are strongly committed to reinforcing our market positioning, in line with the 2018-2022 industrial plan” Profumo concluded.
