Qatar Rail inks 3 deals at Cityscape 2018

Mubasher: Qatar Rail has signed three agreements with Qatar National Bank (QNB), Ooredoo and Qatar Insurance (QIC) on the sidelines of Cityscape Qatar Conference and Exhibition 2018.

Cityscape Qatar exhibition takes place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre from 22-25 April.

Qatar Rail, the company overseeing the construction of the Gulf state's railway network, announced the signing of its first naming rights agreement with Qatar Insurance Group to name West Bay station as Qatar Insurance Group Station.

The second deal was inked with QNB, the Middle East’s largest lender, and it will enable the bank to join as a strategic partner and the official acquirer bank for all Travel Card and Fare Media payments.

“The agreement will ensure that Qatar Rail is able to accept payments made with all major credit and debit cards issued in Qatar and worldwide,” according to Qatari rail firm.

As for Qatar Rail’s third contract, it was signed with Ooredoo to allow users to enjoy high-speed communication services during their journey through the stations and aboard the Lusail Tram.

Moreover, the state-owned railway company noted the launch of Green Line retail spaces extending from Al Mansoura to Al Riffaa station.

The total number of retail shops are 45 retail units over an area of 2,150 square meters across 8 stations.

The stations will also offer spaces for 20 ATMs and 15 vending machines to serve metro users.

Qatar Rail did not mention further details concerning the agreement's total cost.
