QSE loses 142 pts in week

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed the week ended 13 December down, after three consecutive ups, pressured by the fall of five sectors.

The main index decreased 1.34%, or 142.26 points, to close the week at 10,456.14 points.

Market capitalisation went down 0.96% to QAR 589.63 billion over the week, from QAR 595.35 billion in the prior week.

The QSE’s liquidity slid 30.5% to QAR 871.73 million from QAR 1.25 billion the previous week, while the number of transactions tumbled 25.9% to 18,360 against 24.78.

The market’s trading volume went down 27.3% to 31.17 million shares this week versus 42.89 million last week.

Over the week, the telecommunication sector topped the QSE’s adding 4.40%, followed by the goods, transportation, banking and industrial with 1.60%, 1.33%, 1.14%, and 0.97%, respectively.

During the week, 36 stocks dropped, spearheaded by Doha Insurance, which lost 5.62%, while 7 stocks increased topped by Qatar Islamic Insurance’s 3.27% jump, while two stocks were stable.
