QSE gains 82 pts at Sunday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Sunday’s trading session in positive territory, supported by the growth of six sectors, amid low liquidity.

The general index rose 82.87 points, or 0.81%, to finish the first session of the week at 10,297.06 points.

The QSE’s liquidity decreased to QAR 211.6 million on Sunday from QAR 1.7 billion on Thursday, while the trading volume decreased to 5.1 million shares against 5.8 million in the previous session.

The goods sector topped the QSE’s risers adding 4.63% as Qatar Fuel (Woqod) jumped 7.61%, while the industrial sector levelled up 0.49% as Qatar Electricity and Water grew 0.87%.

Similarly, the banking sector inched up 0.18% due to the heavyweight Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) 0.11% increase.

On the other hand, the transportation sector was the bourse’s only loser falling 0.30% as Gulf Warehousing and Qatar Gas Transport (Nakilat) declined 0.83% and 0.39%, respectively.

By the end of the session, Woqod’s stock led the QSE in terms of liquidity with QAR 85.4 million, while Al Khalij Commercial Bank’s (KCBK) stock, which inched down 0.09%, spearheaded the market in terms of trading volume with 538,600 shares.
