QSE falls 23 pts at Thursday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) general index went down 23.08 points, or 0.23%, to close at 9,953.72 points on Thursday.

The QSE’s liquidity retreated to QAR 205.21 million on Thursday, from QAR 211.99 million in the previous session, while trading volume dropped to 6.85 million shares, compared to 8.44 million on Wednesday.

The real estate sector slid 0.53%, headed by Barwa Real Estate which tumbled 7.29%, while Mazaya Qatar Real Estate Development topped gainers and advanced 3.35%.

On the other hand, the industrials sector rose 0.33% after Qatar Industrial Manufacturing added 1.81%.

The banking sector went up 0.20% as Al Khalij Commercial Bank grew 0.91%.

Barwa Real Estate’s stock spearheaded the QSE in terms of trading volume and value after nearly 801,450 shares were exchanged at a turnover of QAR 29.50 million.

On Wednesday, Barwa Real Estate’s ordinary general meeting (OGM) approved distributing a cash dividend of QAR 2.5 per share for the fiscal year ended 31 December 2018.
