QSE adds 438 pts in week; QIB most traded

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed the week ended 30 August in the green territory after the general index leapt 4.64%, or 438.57 points, to close the week at 9,886.45 points.

Market value went up 5.16% to QAR 546.28 billion ($149.46 billion) by the week, from QAR 519.46 billion ($142.12 billion) in the prior week.

The QSE’s liquidity jumped 54.58% to QAR 1.06 billion from QAR 687.81 million last week, while the number of transactions grew 25.29% to 18,410 against 14,690. Similarly, the market’s trading volume increased 38.43% to 31.52 million shares this week versus 22.77 million last week.

Meanwhile, the real estate sector topped the QSE, after rising 7.07%, followed by the banking and telecommunication sectors, which grew 6.85% and 4.77%, respectively.

Moreover, the insurance sector advanced 2.51%, followed by the growth of the industrial and goods sectors with 1.83% and 0.23%, respectively.

During the week, 28 stocks grew, spearheaded by Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), which added 12.90%, while 16 stocks went down topped by Aamal Company’s 3.80% drop, while Qatar National Bank’s stock was the market’s only stable stock at QAR 30.11.
