Polvara Spinning resumes work after strike

Cairo-Mubasher: Arab Polvara Spinning said that operations resumed on Wednesday after employees ended their strike.

The textiles company, based in Alexandria, has seen recurrent workers’ strikes since 2007 to call for better work conditions, higher salaries and backpay of share dividends.

The EGX-listed company posted EGP 76.4 million in net losses for the fiscal year ended 31 December 2013, a rise of 15% compared with EGP 66.4 million a year earlier.

Polvara operates with issued capital of EGP 468.4 million, divided into 93.7 million shares at a par value of EGP 5 each.
