Penspen Awarded FEED Contract for Morocco-Nigeria Gas Pipeline

Morocco’s Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have awarded a contract to Penspen to begin FEED’s first phase to construct a 5,700-km gas pipeline between Nigeria and Morocco, according to Pipeline Oil & Gas Magazine.

Phase 1 of the project consists of a review of the feasibility study and an evaluation of the gas supply and demand study. An Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) will then be carried out to optimize the proposed pipeline route and project economics.

The results of the studies will be used to development FEED’s second phase, which is expected to lead to a final investment decision.

“We consider it a huge privilege to be selected by both clients for the next stage of the project definition i.e. FEED Phase I where we will continue to provide our renowned world class services towards realization of this strategic project,” Peter O’Sullivan, chief executive officer of Penspen, said.

“Penspen remains fully committed to the course and is confident that we have both the necessary experience and the required expertise to support the delivery of an optimal FEED study for the development of this pipeline,” he added.
