Oman’s Crowne Plaza Muscat hotel has reopened following the completion of a renovation operation at the facility.
The programme, as of March 2018, was expected to cost $9.1m (OMR3.5m).
In a statement to the Muscat bourse, Gulf Hotels Oman Company Limited revealed that the hotel reopened on 1 September, 2018.
The facility’s porte-cochère, lobby, new infinity pool, and reception area were renovated, while its food and beverage terrace was extended.
Work related to Crowne Plaza Muscat’s all-day dining and its Edge restaurants is ongoing. The restaurants’ completion and operational commencement is set for October 2018.
This March, it was revealed that Douglas OHI had been awarded a $5.3m (OMR2.05m) contract to renovate the Crowne Plaza Muscat hotel.
Renovation costs related to equipment and furniture at the time were expected to total $3.8m (OMR1.45m). Gulf Hotels, the owner and operator of Crowne Plaza Muscat, said the renovation programme’s project works – including the furniture and equipment costs listed above – were estimated to cost $9.1m.
Of the total requirement, $6.5m (OMR2.5m) was to be funded through a term loan, while $2.6m (OMR1m) was due to be sourced through Gulf Hotels’ internal accruals and surplus funds. Gulf Hotels has not revealed cost details following the renovation programme’s completion.
