New electricity price hikes to cut electricity deficit to EGP 16.5bn

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s minister of electricity announced that the recent increases in electricity tariffs will reduce the electricity budget deficit to EGP 16.5 billion from EGP 33.5 billion.

The Egyptian electricity ministry is planning to gradually lift electricity subsidy until July 2021, Mohamed Shaker said in a press conference.

Electricity tariffs will be increased by 14.9% starting from 1 July, he added.
