NBE considers contributing to EGP 20bn syndicated loans

Cairo – Mubasher: The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) is currently considering the contribution to syndicated loan worth EGP 20 billion, the Vice Chairman, Yehia Aboul Fotouh, revealed.

These loans will be directed to ports, infrastructure, and real estate sectors, Aboul Fotouh added on the sidelines of People and Banks Conference on Monday.

The lender has contributed EGP 25 billion to syndicated loans valued at EGP 100 billion, which were directed to various sectors, over a year and half.

NBE’s credit portfolio reached EGP 900 billion, while the small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) funding portfolio exceeded EGP 80 billion.

The bank aims to increase its retail banking portfolio to EGP 150 billion by the end of June 2021 from EGP 120 billion.

Moreover, the asset portfolio stood at EGP 2.2 trillion, while the deposit portfolio reached EGP 1.2 trillion.

Internet banking customers reached 3 million, while corporate customers registered 40,000.

For his part, the bank’s Chairman, Hisham Okasha, revealed that retail loans reached EGP 125 billion.

He further added that the number of Meeza cards increased to 3.2 million from 600,000 before the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
