Moody's affirms Riyad Bank's deposit ratings; outlook remains stable

Riyadh – Mubasher: Moody's Ratings has affirmed the long-term deposit ratings of Riyad Bank at ‘A1’ and its short-term deposit ratings at ‘P-1’, with a stable outlook.

The agency also maintained the lender’s Baseline Credit Assessment (BCA) and Adjusted BCA at ‘baa1’, its long-term and short-term Counterparty Risk Assessments at ‘Aa3(cr)/P-1(cr)’, and its long-term and short-term Counterparty Risk Ratings at ‘Aa3/P-1’.

“We have also affirmed Riyad Bank's long-term/short-term national scale deposit ratings at ‘Aa2.sa / SA-1’ and its long-term / short-term national scale CRRs at ‘Aa1.sa / SA-1’,” it added.

Moody's asserted Riyad Sukuk Limited's backed senior unsecured debt and program ratings at A1 / (P)A1, respectively, and backed subordinated debt and program ratings at Baa3(hyb) / (P)Baa3, respectively.

The rating agency expects that the Saudi bank will maintain a resilient financial profile over the next 12 to 18 months.

It highlighted: “The bank's sound capitalization is supported by solid earnings, and stable deposit base given its established domestic franchise are balanced against moderate liquidity buffers, as well as risks arising from its sizeable exposure to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and high borrower and depositor concentrations.”

The stable outlook reflects Moody’s expectation that funding and liquidity pressures will ease as loan growth moderates. This is balanced against the rapid expansion of the bank’s SME exposure, while profitability and capitalization are expected to remain broadly stable.

At the end of September 2026, the bank’s performance showed a robust growth trajectory across several key metrics, with net profits rising by 4.61% to SAR 8.13 billion from SAR 7.77 billion in the first nine months of 2025.
