Money supply rises 10% in July – QCB

Mubasher: Money supply (M2) at banks operating in Qatar grew 10.3% year-on-year in July, according to the Qatar Central Bank's (QCB) monthly monetary bulletin released Thursday.   

M2, which includes current and savings accounts as well as deposits, jumped to QAR 588.14 billion ($161.56 billion) in July from QAR 533.21 billion ($146.47 billion) in the same month a year earlier.

By the end of July, total banknotes issued by the QCB declined 2.5% versus QAR 16.88 billion in the same period of the previous year.

Total cash reached QAR 16.400 billion in July, while coins recorded QAR 50.40 billion.
