Middle East-based telecom companies, Huawei jointly launch IntelligentRAN in region

Mubasher: Saudi Telecom Company (stc), Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain), the telecoms pillar of e& in the UAE, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du), and Huawei have jointly launched IntelligentRAN in the Middle East.

Through IntelligentRAN, the companies seek to inject artificial intelligence (AI) into wireless networks and achieve autonomous driving networks in the wireless domain, according to a press release on Wednesday.

The Mobile Intelligence Engine (MIE) is introduced in IntelligentRAN to meet the real-time requirements and provide functions such as post-data analysis, training on the data gathered, and training of more precise models. 

The Infrastructure Sector VP of stc, Bader Abdullah Allhieb, commented: "At stc, we are committed to providing advanced technologies and contribute to building a strong sustainable future for Saudi and the region, and support realizing the Digital Transformation Strategy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."

Meanwhile, the Vice President of Huawei Middle East Marketing and Solutions, Vanness You, said: "With the capabilities of 5G, we are able to bring in "iService" for agile provisioning, 'iOperation' for zero network faults, and 'iNetwork' for optimal experience and energy efficiency."
