Mubasher: Microsoft Corporation expected that its large-scale data centres and other tech investments will create around 1 million jobs in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the company’s president for the Middle East and North Africa has said.
About 55,000 jobs will be allocated for the UAE alone by the end of 2022, Samer Abu Ltaif said.
The American tech giant created up to 576,000 high-tech jobs in the region among its 17,000 partner organisations during the period between 2017 and 2022, Abu Ltaif told Arabian Business.
“If you take the conversion that has been adopted that for every one high-tech job, you can have 4.3 jobs in other occupations and other sectors, you’re talking about potentially Microsoft’s ecosystem leading to one million incremental jobs in MENA, and two million in the Middle East and Africa,” he added.
Since 2013, Microsoft has invested around $160 million in MENA nations in different fields.
In 2017, the multinational firm has supported 730 entrepreneurs that really require support on technology.
