MSM slides 97.2 pts in week; industry weighs

Mubasher: The main index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) ended 1.74% or 97.2 points lower, reaching 5,474.42 points in the week ended 20 April 2017.

The index dropped as all the sectors fell collectively, as the industry sector led losers.

Raysut Cement Company lost 13.55%, followed by Oman Fisheries with 10.26%, and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles with 9.55%.

On the other hand, financial services led risers with 33.33%, followed by Oman Flour Mills with 4.89%, and Oman Education and Training Investment with 3.57%.

The industry, services, and financial sectors tumbled 2.48%, 1.18%, and 0.8%, respectively.

Traded volume rose 30.9% to 90.49 million shares this week against 69.14 million shares in the week before, whereas trading value dropped 71.3% reaching OMR 23.71 million against OMR 13.84 million.

MSM’s market capitalisation rose 1.22% reaching OMR 17.84 billion throughout the week.
