MSM ends in green after two declines

 

Mubasher: The Muscat Securities Market (MSM) closed Wednesday at a rise, after two straight losses, backed by the financial and services sectors.

The MSM30 index grew 0.47% or 26.84 points and closed at 5,787.69 points, while the Shariah Index retreated 0.15% or 1.36 points to close at 902.01 points. Turnover reached OMR 7.38 million after 26.56 million shares were exchanged through 1,091 transactions.

The financial and services sectors were up 0.33% and 0.14%, respectively, whereas the industrial sector fell 0.28%. A total of 43 companies traded today, of which 15 gained, eight declined and 20 stabilised at their previous levels.

Bank Muscat led risers with an increase of 5%, whereas Oman Cement tumbled 3.08%, leading losers. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover and traded volume with OMR 2.87 million resulting from the exchange of 5.24 million shares.

The MSM previously ended Tuesday at a decline of 0.12% or 6.92 points to 5,760.85 points.
