Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian finance ministry, in collaboration with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), is considering providing a new legal mechanism to seize unpaid tax receivables of taxpayers from their bank accounts, the finance minister said.
Mohamed Maait highlighted the importance of seizing the tax receivables only, not the whole balance of taxpayers, news network Rassd reported.
The ministry will discuss this matter within the ongoing long-term cooperation with the CBE to set a legal mechanism that enables the tax authority to only seize owed sums to the state treasury, he highlighted.
A permanent committee will be formed to study these decisions to be issued by the Tax Authority and the Egyptian Customs Authority, he added.
The committee will be meeting at least once a week to discuss the decisions, the minister indicated.
